Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards gives birth to her first child

Perrie Edwards has given birth to her first child.

The Little Mix star, 28, announced that she has welcomed a baby with her footballer boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on her Instagram page on Sunday morning. 

Perrie shared a series of adorable black and white snaps of the little one’s hands and feet, while writing: ‘Welcome to the world baby 21/08/21 ♥️.’

Alex shared the same sweet images on his own social media page, alongside a caption which read: ‘Welcome to the world little one’.

Messages of congratulations flooded in for the couple, with TOWIE’s Lauren Pope and Laura Whitmore both posting their well wishes under Perrie’s announcement. 

It comes hours after Little Mix fans suspected heavily pregnant Perrie had gone into labour.

After it was announced by Liverpool’s Twitter account on Saturday that Alex had pulled out of the football game between Liverpool and Burnley due to ‘personal reasons’, fans suggested their baby was ‘coming’.

Perrie announced she was expecting her first child with Alex, 28, in May, mere days after her bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock announced her own pregnancy news.

Liverpool F.C. announced the line-up for Saturday’s game on their official Instagram and Twitter accounts, with Alex’s name noticeably missing. 

The team’s management are yet to provide reasons as to Alex’s absence.

Fans of the superstar couple were quick to suggest their first child was on its way.

‘The baby is coming!!’ many fans wrote on Twitter, as well as one who said: ‘Perrie in labour maybe?’

‘Let’s wish them a safe delivery and a healthy baby,’ another fan commented.

One said she was ‘already crying’ over the possibility of Perrie going into labour. 

MailOnline has reached out to Perrie and Alex’s representatives for comment. 

Perrie is one of the two Little Mix stars due to give birth later this year. She is yet to reveal the gender of her unborn child.

Perrie announced the news she and Alex are expecting by sharing a series of stunning black and white images to Instagram back in May. 

She excitedly said she is ready to be embarking on the ‘wild journey’ of pregnancy and parenthood with her sportsman boyfriend. 

Alongside the photos, the former X Factor star wrote on Instagram: ‘So happy to be on this wild journey with my soulmate.’

The couple have been romantically linked since late 2016 and last year gushed about how much they enjoyed spending the first nationwide lockdown at home together.

They made their relationship Instagram official in January 2017 and spent lockdown together, before Alex’s Premier and Champions League duties resumed. 

Perrie was previously engaged to Zayn Malik.
