Liverpool ‘have offered £21m’ for Fluminese and Brazil midfielder Andre, with Jurgen Klopp scrambling for midfield reinforcements as Romeo Lavia pursuit rumbles on

Liverpool have reportedly offered £21million for Fluminese and Brazil midfielder Andre as Reds boss Jurgen Klopp seeks to bolster his midfield options. 

The 22-year-old Brazilian has played 144 games for the Serie A side after breaking into the senior squad in 2020.

The holding midfielder made his debut for the Selecao in a 4-2 friendly defeat to Senegal in June. 

Andre is under contract until 2026 and Fluminense recently turned down a £19m bid from Fulham.

Klopp has stressed the need to strengthen in midfield after Jordan Henderson moved to Al Ettifaq for £12m and and Fabinho joined fellow Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad for £40m.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has stressed the need to strengthen in midfield this summer 

Midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita also left the club during the summer. 

Midfielders Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic are working on pre-season programmes back in Kirkby.

Arthur Melo played only 13 minutes on loan from Juventus last season and has returned to Italy, while Fabio Carvalho has joined RB Leipzig on loan. 

Southampton rejected Liverpool’s improved bid of £41m plus add ons for 19-year-old midfielder Romeo Lavia on Tuesday.  

The Saints have remained unmoved in their assessment of Lavia, who they value at £50m.

Klopp’s side had come back to their negotiating table on Tuesday following the rejection of their initial £37m bid last week.
