Jamie Carragher has named the one Manchester Untied player who’d he welcome at Liverpool – and didn’t hesitate in choosing.

The Reds are currently top of the Premier League, two points ahead of Arsenal, while Manchester United lay in sixth as the struggle for a Champions League spot.

The league placings are a sign of the times between the two great rivals, despite United’s last-gasp FA Cup win over Liverpool last month.

However, when asked on the latest episode of The Overlap Fan Debate, which United player Jamie Carragher would take to Liverpool, the Anfield legend instantly named one of the stars of the season.

The 46-year-old believes there would be room in the Liverpool team for teenage sensation Kobbie Manioo.

Answering the fans question, Carragher said: ‘I think I’d probably take the young kid Mainoo.

His age, number one, I think he looks like a superstar and he could go on to be a real superstar.’

Manioo has been one of the stories of the season, having only made his first start for United in November. Since then he’s gone to make 24 appearances for the Reds and impressed as one of the club’s standout performers.

So much so, he’s displays were rewarded with an England call-up last month, where he made his debut against Brazil and now looks a shoe-in for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.

Looking through United’s squad, Carragher did give a shout for another one of Erik ten Hag’s side, believing that Marcus Rashford could squeeze into the current set up on Merseyside.

Adding: ‘I’m trying to think who else in the United team is better playing in their position.

‘Maybe Rashford because for Liverpool in the summer, obviously under a new manager, that may be a position you look at.

‘Wide left because I think [Luis] Diaz is good, I don’t think he’s great. So that could be a position. But I think with Mainoo in central midfield. Yeah, I would go with him just for the age factor.’

The two rivals will go head-to-head one final time this Sunday, as Jurgen Klopp takes a Liverpool team to Old Trafford for a final time, looking to stay ahead of his title rivals in the race for the championship.
