Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £31million move for Nicolo Barella after Juventus withdrew their interest in the Cagliari midfielder.
Barella had been on the radar of the Serie A champions following a series of impressive displays domestically, but according to reports in Italy, they are ready to walk away over what they deem to be an excessive valuation.
Calciomercato write that Liverpool have now jumped to the front of the queue for the £31m-rated central midfielder, although a number of other Serie A clubs, including Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma are also tracking his progress.

Barella had been expected to leave Cagliari this summer, but instead pledged his future to his boyhood club.
‘The transfer market? I feel at home with the team of my city,’ he said earlier this summer.
‘Together with the president, I decided to prolong my relationship with them, rejecting the offers that came my way.
‘I didn’t even take them into consideration. My first choice has always been Cagliari.’
A dominant presence in midfield for Cagliari, the 21-year-old earned a place in Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad for this month’s UEFA Nations League games against Poland and Portugal.
He is yet to make his debut for the national team, currently finding himself behind the likes of Jorginho, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Roberto Gagliardini in the pecking order.
But Barella has found a willing advocate in the form of former Italy midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who lauded his ability after Cagliari’s recent draw with AC Milan.
‘I really enjoyed him against Milan,’ Pirlo said. ‘He only needs to find the right place in the field.
‘He is one of the best players in Italy. So in the national team he has to play.’
Barella has played five times for Cagliari so far this season, scoring once in the away win over Atalanta.
