Liverpool are reportedly ready to use the offer of a lucrative signing-on fee to get Mohamed Salah to agree to a new long-term deal, becoming the club’s highest earner in the process.
Salah’s current deal runs through to 2023 but Liverpool have made it a priority to get their star man locked onto fresh terms like many of his team-mates.
A new report suggests that while Liverpool understand he wants to become the highest earner in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, they do not want to shatter their wage structure and so using a signing-on fee is believed to be under consideration.

The Egyptian winger already has 15 goals to his name this season for Liverpool, including his stunning hat-trick against Manchester United last weekend.
The report goes on to add that suggestions that Salah is holding out for £500,000 a week is false as he understands the financial parameters of owners Fenway Sports Group.
Any new deal would see Salah become the best-paid player in the club’s history, eclipsing Vigil Van Dijk’s new £220,000-a-week contract.

Before the 5-0 drubbing of Manchester United, Salah was asked by Sky Sports if he wants to stay on Merseyside.
He said: ‘It doesn’t depend on me, but if you asked me I would love to stay until the last day of my football [career].
‘I can’t say much about that, it’s not in my hands. It depends on what the club wants.
‘It doesn’t depend on me. At the moment, I can’t see myself ever playing against Liverpool. That would make me sad.
‘It’s hard. I don’t want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad and at the moment I don’t see myself playing against Liverpool, but let’s see what will happen in the future.’

Liverpool’s focus in recent months has been in securing the futures of players who have been a bedrock to their successes both domestically and in Europe.
Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was the first to pen a new deal by signing a four-year extension in late July, and the England right back’s statement of commitment was swiftly followed by a contract for Brazil midfielder Fabinho days later.
Goalkeeper Alisson also penned a new deal in the first week of July while Van Dijk also signed on the dotted line.
There was also a new contract for Harvey Elliott, who broke into the Liverpool first-team at the start of this season before sustained a nasty ankle fracture and dislocation against Leeds.
Scottish defender Andy Robertson also signed fresh terms until 2026 and now Salah is the priority.
