Liverpool suffer injury scare as Fabinho hobbles off during Champions League clash with Napoli

  • Fabinho was withdrawn during Liverpool’s European encounter with Napoli
  • The Brazilian went down holding his ankle after colliding with Hirving Lozano
  • He tried to play on but was replaced by Gini Wijnaldum after just 20 minutes

Fabinho limped off during the first half of Liverpool’s Champions League group stage clash with Napoli.

The midfielder appeared to suffer ankle injury after colliding with Hirving Lozano following a foul on the Mexican by Dejan Lovren.

After receiving treatment on the field, the 26-year-old attempted to play on but was substituted on 20 minutes and replaced by Gini Wijnaldum.

The Brazilian is already set to miss Liverpool’s next match at home to Brighton through suspension, having picked up a fifth yellow card of the season in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp now has a growing injury list with Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson also sustaining similar injuries in recent games.

The Reds boss will have to assess Fabinho ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield on Wednesday, December 4.
