Liverpool will reportedly battle it out with Manchester United to sign Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson.

The Red Devils spent more than £200million during the course of a busy summer transfer window but have a number of players facing spells on the sidelines.

Luke Shaw is yet to make an appearance this season with a calf injury while his deputy Tyrell Malacia has not played a single match in over a year.

Diogo Dalot has been forced to slot in at left-back in their absence, with Robinson now on United’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window according to The Sun.

However, Erik ten Hag’s side will face competition from Liverpool for the USA international, who has started the season brightly.

The same outlet claims that the Reds see Robinson as a cover and long-term replacement for Andy Robertson.

Robinson is over three years younger than the Scotland international, who was also hampered by injuries last season.

He would come with proven Premier League experience having played 141 times in the top flight over the past four years.

Fulham are said to value the American, who arrived from Wigan in August 2020, at around £30m and will consider letting the star man go at this price.

Given Robertson’s overall injury record in comparison to Shaw, Robinson is likely to get more minutes at United than Liverpool.

Liverpool currently have Greek international Kostas Tsimikas as back-up to Robertson.

Robinson has enjoyed an impressive start to the season at Craven Cottage, notching two assists in his first five matches.

Meanwhile, Liverpool bounced back from last weekend’s defeat against Nottingham Forest with a comfortable 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Luis Diaz scored a first half brace before a superb strike by Darwin Nunez to sent Arne Slot’s side top of the table ahead of the clash between Manchester City and Arsenal on Sunday.
