Talented Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas is at the centre of a tug-of-war between England and Wales over which country he should represent.

Koumas, 17, is wanted by Wales under-19s for their two games against Sweden in June but England have also taken note of the young forward and asked about his availability for their under-18s internationals against Norway and Australia in Lisbon.

The Anfield prospect joined Liverpool at the age of 11 and signed his first professional contract in January after his 17th birthday.

He made his debut in the EFL Trophy last year alongside Stefan Bajcetic and has also impressed and scored goals in the UEFA Youth League.

Gareth Bale is among the players who have already shown an interest in the starlet’s developing career which will give Welsh fans hope he will end up committing to Cymru.

Koumas is expected to feature in Liverpool’s under-21 side in Premier League II next season despite his age.

To add to his international options, he would also be eligible to play for Cyprus through his family.
