- Liverpool’s players landed in England after their historic aggregate win vs Roma
- They will face Real Madrid in the final which takes place on May 26 in Kiev
- Liverpool will have to refocus for their game vs Chelsea to confirm top four spot
Liverpool’s players have returned home after a thrilling night in Rome that saw them reach the Champions League final after winning 7-6 on aggregate.
The team landed back in England on Thursday afternoon following another great European occasion for the club, despite losing on the night.
Jurgen Klopp has taken his side on an extraordinary run in Europe but there were no celebrations on their return with his side’s most pivotal games still to play.
Liverpool will have to quickly turn their attention to the weekend as they face a trip to Chelsea on Sunday with a top four spot not yet cemented.
Tottenham and Chelsea are still able to overtake the Reds should they suffer any kind of European hangover and Klopp appeared to have them re-focused as they made their way home.
They could be forgiven for not being completely focused on their Premier League campaign after a memorable victory over Roma.
Two away goals scored by Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, his first for the club away from Anfield, put a Roma comeback just out of reach.
Liverpool’s opponents in the final will be Real Madrid, who beat Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate in a similarly close and entertaining encounter.
Some have been teeing up the final as Mohamed Salah versus Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Egyptian winger is having none of it.
