Liverpool are reportedly desperate to lock down both Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to new long-term contracts.

Van Dijk and Alisson, who signed for £75million and £65m respectively back in 2018, have been instrumental to Liverpool’s European dominance under manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Holland centre back and Brazilian goalkeeper have provided a stern backbone, and the pair are in line to guide Liverpool to their first-ever Premier League title following their Champions League triumph last season.

And according to the Independent, the Reds’ priority is to tie down 28-year-old Van Dijk and 27-year-old Alisson to lucrative new long-term deals. 

It is understood that the pair are both wanting to extend their contracts at Anfield following their arrivals two years ago. 

Fellow defensive team-mates Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Joe Gomez have all signed new deals in the last 13 months.

Klopp is desperate to retain and reward his brilliant defensive rearguard, that have conceded just 15 goals in 25 Premier League matches.   

And their defensive record, as well as their scintillating form in front of goal, has put them on the brink of winning their maiden Premier League title.

The Anfield outfit currently sit top of the Premier League by a massive 22 points with just 13 matches remaining.
