Lizzie Cundy has warned the wives and girlfriends of England’s Qatar World Cup players to be on their best behaviour – claiming the ‘golden days’ of partying during the tournament are on hold.

The socialite, 54, who was married to former footballer Jason Cundy from 1994 to 2012 claims she was ‘treated like royalty’ when she jetted to Germany in 2006 and South Africa in 2010 to watch England play, claiming WAGs ‘play a huge part in creating the special atmosphere’ during the competition.

Players’ partners have been provided with a rulebook on what’s allowed and what could earn them a £6,000 fine and a year in jail, with the list serving as a reminder to the England WAGs that they are ‘not above the law’ in the strict Gulf State.

According to The Sun, one of the key points stressed is that they should ‘dress modestly’ when in public and at games, and they were also reminded that public displays of affection would not be tolerated.

They’ve also been told about the country’s strict policy on littering, which is illegal in Qatar and punishable with the aforementioned £6,000 fine and year in jail.

On top of that, they’ll be prohibited from drinking alcohol or swearing in public, as well as playing music, singing, shouting or generally acting ‘inappropriately’ during the call to prayer.

Selfies outside of official government buildings could also lead to police action if the wives and girlfriends are not careful.

Lizzie has warned the likes of Jack Grealish’s model girlfriend Sasha Attwood, Jordan Pickford’s partner Megan Davison and Harry Kane’s wife Katie that ‘with the risk of a crisis in Qatar if anyone has too much fun, I think the golden days have come to an end.’

Television personality Lizzie says it’s natural for the player’s partners to leap up and hug one another when celebrating an England goal but says they’ll have to think twice in case they get too affectionate with the wrong person.

She added that the WAGs will have to be mindful of their wardrobe choices, telling The Sun: ‘WAGs love dressing up and are fully aware that when their partner scores a goal, all the cameras are straight on them.

‘They want to look the bee’s knees — clothes are their life and they’ll obviously have got all their outfits ready for the matches. And for the girls to dress modestly? They haven’t got that in their vocab.’

Lizzie warned: ‘They could get in trouble unless they’ve got a warden or someone there checking them from head to toe with a measuring tape.’

This isn’t the first time that the England WAGs have been warned about the strict rules in Qatar that they should be aware of.

At a meeting before England’s 3-3 draw with Germany last month, FA chiefs said: ‘It is important to understand that you and your husband/partner are not above the law here.

‘Every order is in place to protect both yourselves and your partner/husband in any case of indiscretion. Fines and prosecution are commonplace.’

Lizzie also bemoaned the strict rules around alcohol in the Middle Eastern country, saying the ladies will want to celebrated England’s win if they triumph.

She also said it would be tough to gold back from cheering and chanting during the game, with singing banned.

‘All of these rules are going to be broken, probably by accident — and we could see one of our girls actually being put in prison,’ she said.

Lizzie concluded: ‘If I were them, I’d make a stand against these regressive regulations and say, “We’re not going to go”. A World Cup without WAGs would be a sad sight.’
