Lizzy McAlpine announces split from boyfriend Michael Hanano as she asks fans not to ‘attack’ him: ‘There’s no bad blood between us’

Lizzy McAlpine used social media to announce that she and boyfriend Michael Hanano have separated.

The 24-year-old singer appeared on X on Wednesday to share the news and ask fans not to ‘attack’ her now-ex, who is a photographer.

‘Michael and i broke up and it was loving and caring and there’s no bad blood between us,’ McAlpine – who presented at the Steamy Awards last year – began the note.

McAlpine then emphasized, ‘And Michael did nothing wrong so PLEASE. do not attack him. 

‘Nobody needs to be in his DMs saying nasty s**t to him. he did nothing wrong. he is a real person with real feelings. thanks,’ she concluded.

According to People, the former couple first teased their romance online in December 2022.

She shared three images that didn’t show her beau’s face and captioned the post, ‘Officially launching kind of softly.’ 

Then, in February 23, Michael appeared in Lizzy’s Ceilings music video.

Aside from the breakup news, Lizzy was also active on her Instagram account on Wednesday.

She shared a single photo featuring her with her bandmates Taylor Mackall and Mason Stoops.

Engaging her 791,000 followers, she wrote, ‘new favorite picture alert.’

Then, the star added, ‘there are still some tickets left for portland & san fran, get em while they’re hot! see u in seattle on saturday :’).’

Her fans have so far liked the post more than 26,000 times.

Last year, McAlpine reflected on her steady rise in the music industry while talking to People.

Describing how posting cover songs online during the pandemic was the start to her career, she said, ‘I was just able to reach more people because no one was doing anything and they were all just on their phones, so I capitalized on that.’

She added, ‘It has just been a steady incline since then.’
