Locals drop off balloons and gifts outside Turpin home

Community members in Perris, California paid their respects to the Turpin children who were found shackled and severely malnourished inside their family home early Sunday.

David, 57, and Louise Turpin, 49, were arrested this week and pleaded not guilty Thursday afternoon to 75 charges. They are accused of torturing their 13 kids to near death.

Authorities found the pair’s toddler to adult-aged children chained in the home alongside the family’s two Maltese dogs – said to be in ‘good condition’ despite the child neglect and abuse.

In photos captured Thursday that were released by Associated Press, local parents and children are seen gathered outside the Turpin home where presents, balloons and teddy bears were left on the front door step.

A parent is pictured holding her child’s hand as they enter the driveway to the infamous House of Horrors where the kids, aged 2 to 29, were held captive for several years.

Louise Turpin is currently facing 37 charges for the crimes, while her husband, David, is facing 38.

The pair have both been charged with 12 counts of torture, 12 counts of false imprisonment, 7 charges of abusing a dependent adult and six counts of child abuse.

The Turpin couple is being held on $12 million bail after they entered their pleas.

They are scheduled to return to court on February 23.
