Logies 2023: Host Sam Pang mocks Amy Shark’s song choice as viewers slam her ‘awful’ performance – just moments before singer went on to win Most Popular New Talent

Sam Pang took a brutal swipe at Amy Shark during the Logie Awards at Sydney’s The Star on Sunday night.

The Australian comedian, 49, took to the stage right after the singer, 37, performed her new hit Can I Shower At Yours? and took a dig at her choice of song.

Meanwhile viewers took to social media to brand Amy ‘awful’ and ‘talentless’.

Sam rushed up on stage as Amy walked off following her performance, happily waving at the audience who gave her a round of applause.

‘Ladies and gentlemen, the amazing Amy Shark!’ he began, allowing the applause to die down.

He brutally added: ‘I wouldn’t have done something off the new album, but that’s fine. Well done, Amy.’

Amy’s reaction to the underhanded swipe was not shown as some in the audience let out a bout of nervous laughter.

Despite Sam’s distaste for Amy’s music, the Australian Idol judge went on to win the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.

She smashed the category, going head-to-head against up and comers Ayesha Madon, Chloe Hayden, Flex Mami, Kween Kong, and Lilliana Bowrey.

However, it seemed Amy couldn’t catch a break as she was later slammed on Twitter for her ‘hopeless’ and ‘talentless’ performance at the Logie Awards.

‘Todd McKenney’s performance is still better than Amy Shark’s,’ one person wrote, referencing the Dancing With The Stars judge who recently landed a role in the ABC drama Significant Others.

Another tweeted: ‘When did Amy Shark start incorporating white girl dancing in her performances?’

‘I reinstated my Twitter or whatever it’s called to say how the F did Amy Shark win that? She’s absolutely hopeless if that last performance is anything to go by,’ a third added.

Someone else wrote: ‘It’s kinda ironic that someone as talentless as Amy Shark won “best new talent”. Her performance was also awful.’

Amy won the award for her role as a judge on the reboot of Australian Idol alongside Kyle Sandilands, Harry Connick Jnr, and Meghan Trainor.
