A boyfriend poisoned 24 of his partner’s Koi carp during a row after a night out.

Ian Perkins, 53, from west London, poured five litres into Diane Kenton’s pool of fish.

The 63-year-old businesswoman watched in horror as her fish began bleeding from the eyes before they died. Six of her fish lived, but were left blind.

Perkins launched the attack on the shoal because Ms Kenton refused to join him for a London to Brighton charity bike ride – after she shouted at him for texting in the garden of her Hayes home.

Ms Kenton told The Sun: ‘It was like a murder scene, with blood coming from their mouths and gills. Police were horrified at all the blood.’ He held the bottle over the pond and said, “Say you’re going, or else”.

‘Then he poured it all in. I was screaming. He knew how much pride and joy those fish gave me.

‘Some belonged to my late father and had sentimental value. They were part of the family.’

Bike mechanic Perkins yesterday got four months’ jail, suspended for one-and-a-half years after appearing at Isleworth Crown Court.

He must pay £1,000 compensation and go to therapy and rehab. He apologised for what he did.

The couple have since split up following the incident.
