Londoner reveals he’s only paying £850 a month for a huge flat in the capital – including bills – and people simply cannot believe it

People have been astounded at one man’s admission that he pays less than £1,000 a month for a large flat in London.

Artist Nigel Grimmer gave a tour of his £850-a-month flat for a TikTok video and revealed the surprisingly reasonable price even includes bills.

The video began with Nigel standing outside of his building, which appears to be a converted church, in an unknown area in the capital.

The clip starts with the artist telling the cameraman about his rent, before he takes him on a tour of his home.

The apartment is seen comprising of wooden floors and statement windows overlooking a high street.

Self-confessed ‘hoarder’ Nigel has plenty of room for the mementoes he’s collected from his travels, from cabinets bursting with dolls from the 1960s and Mexican day of the dead dolls adorning the walls of his bedroom.

Nigel then took the tour down a sizeable hallway into the bathroom and then the bedroom.

Both of these spaces were pretty roomy too, which makes it even more astounding that Nigel has all this for £850 per month.

This is extremely surprising given that parking spaces in London can cost upwards of £70,000 per year.

TikTok users quickly took to the comments section to express their surprise at Nigel’s ‘bargain’ rent.

One user asked: ‘Where are his 5 roommates?’

While another questioned: ‘£850 for a whole flat? Is that London Ohio?’

Another commenter, in disbelief, said: ‘Sorry I can’t believe this whole flat is for £850? Where is this zone 20?’

Then a fifth added: ‘I thought bro be living in a dustbin for £850 in London.’

And a sixth said: ‘Harry Potter pays more than 850 quid for his cupboard under the stairs nowadays in London.’

The cameraman who shared the video has since apologised for any confusion and revealed that the flat actually costs £1,700 a month, which Nigel splits with his roommate.
