Long suffering St Kilda supporters are TERMINATING their memberships with horror AFL flogging at the hands of the the Bulldogs the final straw

With just one premiership in 151 years, AFL battlers St Kilda are regarded as one of the worst teams in Australian sporting history.

Now irate fans have had enough.

After the club promised a new dawn by re-signing former coach Ross Lyon who led the club to consecutive grand finals in 2008 and 2009, the Saints showed some promise by sneaking into the AFL finals in 2023.

But the club crashed to one of its worst defeats in living memory on Thursday night, thrashed 19.10 (124) to 9.10 (64) by a Western Bulldogs side that has also struggled in 2024.

Only a Cooper Sharman kick after the siren prevented it from being the heaviest defeat the club has suffered under Lyon.

While the Saints only played their sixth game of the season and still sit a respectable 12th on the ladder and just a win outside of the top eight, furious supporters have seen enough.

Ross Lyon has urged fans to stick with the Saints despite the horror loss, saying it was a one-off

Outraged members are terminating their membership with the club, sharing proof on social media and urging other fans to walk away from the club.

‘Just sent out an email this morning requesting the immediate termination of my St Kilda membership. I highly implore you to do the same,’ one supporter fume.

‘Don’t let the club keep spitting on your face while taking your money.

‘I will consider signing up a new membership when it’s clear to me that the players, coaches and administration actually respect the club and strive to improve.’

That supporter was not alone, with lifelong members saying they have had enough after seeing players laugh and joke with their opposition after the heavy loss.

‘I have been a lifelong supporter of this club. 32 years. 32 years of seeing this club fall over when the going gets tough,’ one posted.

‘Tomorrow I am putting payments on hold for my St Kilda membership, if not cancelling it entirely.

‘This club has shown time and time again that it doesn’t respect its fans, its history – as pathetic as it is. It doesn’t respect its position in this competition.

‘Seeing our players laughing and joking after getting belted was embarrassing.

‘If they cannot respect me, us – the fans, why should we show them respect?’

Another raged about the club constantly asking members for more while not delivering on the park.

‘Sick of the club emailing, texting and ringing me with more promotions and asking for more s***. How about you produce and give us members something?’ they posted.

One fan gave up their support after 50 years of backing the club.

‘It’s an embarrassment to say I’ve supported the most under achieving club in the world,’ they posted.

‘Honestly wouldn’t care if this club got made to join with another club. The club is the biggest joke in AFL so I’m finished. Go North, that’s my team now.

’50 years of pure s*** St Kilda has given me. I got ten years left so go Roos and f*** you St Kilda.’

While a number of fed up fans have given up on the Saints, the club recently hit 57.000 members and is enjoying strong support

There were plenty of loyal fans slamming the members for their actions, with one of the club’s most senior supporters calling for calm.

‘I have been a member since before you were born.  I am in my seventies I went last night and I will be there next week in Adelaide. I have seen worse than last night,’ he said.

And Lyon has called for calm, hoping that the performance was a one off as the club prepares for a tough match against Port Adelaide in South

“It’s interesting. There’s always commercial aspirations of your club and who represents you at that time, and then there’s the footy agenda,” Lyon said post-match.

“It’s the demands of the game … and we’re a really honest team that’s trying to improve capability, like the Bulldogs are, to chase the ones that have established themselves.

“It’s not an excuse … but we’ll find out. We need to regenerate and get going because we’re not playing the way we want to.”
