They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that’s certainly the case for this world-record breaking longhorn bull.
With a horn span of more than eight feet, Cowboy Tuff Chex has been sold for a whopping $165,000 at the famed Fort Worth Stockyards in the Lone Star State.
Owned by breeder Bob Loomis of Overbrook, Chex was sold last week to Richard and Jeanne Filip of Fayetteville, Texas.
Richard Filip told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the bull will be used for breeding on the couple’s ranch, which has more than 100 longhorns. Jeanne Filip said the bull will be ‘the VIP of the ranch.’

Incredibly Chex’s new owners Richard and Jeanne Filip said they were willing to pay up to $500,000 for the six-year-old bull.
The Filips retired from the real estate business four years ago and have owned longhorns for 17 years.
‘We’re going to bubble-wrap him when we get to the ranch,’ Jeanne Filip told the Star-Telegram.
At the same auction last year, the world-record holder for a steer with horns at 121 inches named Lazy J’s Bluegrass from Kansas sold for $49,000.
While Tuff may hold the record in length, he is not the most expensive longhorn there is. A female cow named 3S Danica sold for $380,000 at a sale in Grapevine earlier this year.
