But Lorde’s homeland haven’t forgotten where her roots lie with the New Zealand Vodafone Music Awards acknowledging the Royals singer with a staggering five nominations.
The pop star is up for Album of the Year, Single of the Year for her smash ‘Green Light, Best Solo Artist, Best Pop Artist as well as the People’s Choice Award.

The gorgeous songwriter, who hails from Auckland’s North Shore, will be singing live at the November 16th event.
Recorded Music CEO Damian Vaughan says each year tops the last and he is immensely proud of this year’s finalists.

He cites the award night will be a fantastic event to reflect on the everything that has been achieved in New Zealand music over the past year.
With a sweet four nominations Aldous Harding will compete with Lorde for the Album of the Year and Best Solo Artist titles but will fight out against other stand out contenders in the Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Alternative Artist.
Auckland rap crew SWIDT lead the nominations after they were chosen across six categories for awards.

Newcomer Theia will run against Lorde for all three of her nominations which include Best Pop Artist and People’s Choice.
Theia, who has burst onto the music scene over the last year, will also perform live along with SWIDT, Lorde, TEEKS and Devilskin.
Both musicians are also up for Single of the Year for ‘Roam’ and ‘Green Light” respectively.
The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards will take place from 8:30pm on November 16th.
