Lorde enjoys a relaxing stroll around Circular Quay ahead of first Sydney show

Kiwi singer Lorde attempted to go incognito as she went for a stroll in Sydney on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old tried to keep a low profile in a cap and sunglasses as she stepped out in Circular Quay ahead of her first Sydney show of her Solar Power World Tour.

The Royals hitmaker looked stylish in baggy white jeans, a black T-shirt and a pair of black shoes for the outing.

Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, wore silver headphones and listened to music as she walked around the city.

The New Zealand singer left her blonde locks out as she glanced at her phone during the stroll.

Lorde will perform the first Sydney show of her Solar Power World Tour on Tuesday night at the ICC.

It comes after Lorde recently revealed she has experienced the ‘highest of highs’ and ‘lowest of lows’ in a heartfelt letter to her fans.

The Kiwi singer opened up in an email newsletter last year called ‘The Path’, revealing she ‘used to sit alone in her hotel room on show days, binge watching [the Great British] Bake Off’ – but has now spread her wings and likes explore ‘every city, walking for miles, eating gelato after dark, finding tiny wine bars’.

‘It’s been a year since I announced the release of Solar Power. I can honestly say it has been the year with the highest highs and lowest lows I think I’ve ever experienced,’ she wrote.

‘It took people a while to get the album – I still get emails every day from people who are just coming around to it now! – and that response was really confounding and at times painful to sit with at first,’ the Royals hitmaker added.

She said she’d ‘learned a ton about herself’ since Solar Power was released, and had ‘been able to work through some big personal stuff that was making it pretty difficult to do stuff like travel or play shows’.

‘I learnt a ton about myself and how I’m perceived by making and releasing this album, and I feel significantly more connected and alive in my art practice and life than pretty much ever before,’ she continued.

‘It’s been interesting as the year has progressed taking in works of art (movies, albums, TV shows, visual art) made in and around the pandemic, and feeling like most of them have a greater degree of interiority than others made by that artist before.

‘You already know about my belief that artists work to metabolise collective feeling, and it makes sense to me that when the collective feeling of the past few years has consisted of long stretches of isolation, vulnerability, abject terror and existential questioning, those feelings would be reflected in the art of the times.’
