Australia’s biggest lottery winner has been found, with an Adelaide man contacting lottery officials this morning.
He is now $150 million richer and surprisingly went to work this morning.
‘I know it may sound crazy, but I’m going to continue working. I’m at work today.’
The middle-aged Adelaide man held the only division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1462, drawn on Thursday night.
The man said he was in a state of shock.
‘Woohoo. I’m still pinching myself. I can’t believe it. I’m the mystery winner. I’m Australia’s biggest lottery winner ever.’
The lucky winner said he looked at the clock last night and saw it was getting late, so he thought the draw should have been done by then.
‘So, I checked the first one and it came up with nothing, then I scanned the second one and it said $150 million. I’ve never screamed so loud or jumped so high.
‘This was late last night, and I still haven’t slept. I’ve just kept checking the ticket.’

The winning entry was purchased at OTR Salisbury Drive Thru in Adelaide’s north
The winning entry was purchased at OTR Salisbury Drive Thru, 142 Salisbury Highway in Salisbury, a suburb north of Adelaide.
The man already has plans for what to do with his new fortune.
‘I’ll buy a house, I want to travel the world, and I’ve got a family and friends I want to help, but for now, I can’t wrap my head around how big this prize is.’
‘This is life-changing. I can’t stop smiling and pinching myself. I can’t believe my luck.’
In addition to the $150 million division one winner, there were 4,433,211 winners across divisions two to nine in last night’s Powerball draw.
They collectively took home more than $89.3 million. This included nine division two winners who each took home $276,036.95.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1462 on Thursday, 23 May 2024, were 18, 29, 34, 8, 4, 28 and 6. The Powerball number was 11.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 368 so far in the 2024 financial year, including 26 won by SA Lotteries customers.
In 2023, 20 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $552.15 million in prize money.
During this time, a Bankstown dad scored a $100 million jackpot and became the second-biggest Australian lottery winner of all time.
Of the 20 Powerball division one winning entries in 2023, eight landed in New South Wales, seven in Victoria, two each in South Australia and Western Australia, and one in Queensland.
