Louis Tomlinson takes a savage swing at Peter Helliar for ‘stirring up’ One Direction beef

Louis Tomlinson took a swipe at The Project hosts Peter Helliar and Carrie Bickmore when they referred to Liam Payne’s recent interview about his time in One Direction during an appearance on the show on Wednesday.

Liam hit the headlines when he appeared on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast last month when he discussed his strained relationships within the group and other infamous moments.

And during Louis’ appearance on Channel 10’s The Project this week, Peter asked Louis if there was any ‘beef’ with the other boys, prompting the star to accuse the hosts of trying to stir things up.

Peter asked: ‘There’s been a bit of 1D beef recently thanks to Liam who’s been speaking out about the band a little bit. When you look back on your experience about the band, how do you feel about your experience of those days?’

A suspicious Louis replied: ‘Oh, so the fishing’s begun already! Yeah, I see what you’re doing. No, listen, I’m immensely proud, as I know Liam is, I’m immensely proud of those days, obviously.

‘It was an incredible thing to do, especially at such a young age and I have amazing memories, amazing memories.’

Pushing Louis further, Carrie asked if he ever gets fed up that he’s still linked to One Direction despite their split in 2016.

She asked: ‘Louis, when you say, “Aw, the fishing’s begun,” I imagine it is so annoying having to answer retrospective questions like that. Do you want to talk about that time in your life to the media versus how much you never have to want to talk about it again?’

Louis responded: ‘I’m more than happy to talk about it in every interview. It’s something I’m immensely proud of, as I’d already said, it’s just when you mentioned the beef before, it sounded like you were getting ready to stir some s**t up, that’s all I’m saying.’

Peter chimed in: ‘No, I’m not a s**t stirrer Louis, do I look like a s**t stirrer?’

During his appearance on The Impaulsive podcast last month, Liam and the host discussed former bandmate Zayn Malik’s headline-making online feud with Logan’s brother Jake Paul in 2020, which ended with Zayn’s then-girlfriend Gigi Hadid slamming Jake as ‘irrelevant’ and defending her beau as ‘a respectful king’.

Liam gave his thoughts on the drama, saying: ‘She tweeted something about get yourself a respectful man or something. That one didn’t age very well.’

Liam continued to talk about Zayn, saying there were ‘many reasons why I dislike Zayn’ but that he will ‘always be on his side’ because of Zayn’s alleged tough upbringing.

He said: ‘There’s many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there’s many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side.

‘If I had had to go through what he went through, through his growth and whatever else. You know are your parents very supportive?

‘My parents are overly supportive to the point where it’s annoying at times and they don’t even mind me saying that. And Zayn had a different upbringing in that sense.’

He continued: ‘You can always look at the man for where he is and say, “Oh, yeah, whatever that guy’s a d*ck.” Right? But at the end of the day, once you understand what he’s been through to get to that point, and also whether or not he even wanted to be there…

‘I’m so misunderstood by myself more than anyone, like I don’t know what I’m doing or why I’m here. It’s like, I can’t sit here and d*ck on him because of whatever.’

Louis is currently in Australia to perform as part of his world tour which was delayed for two years due to Covid.

He first announced delays in 2020 before announcing new 2022 dates after his rescheduled 2021 tour wasn’t able to go ahead.

Promising to return to Australia this year, he wrote on Instagram when announcing his new tour dates in May last year: ‘Let’s try this one last time! All shows on my world tour will be moving back to 2022 and I’m excited to announce the first wave of new dates. I can’t wait to see you all soon, it’s going to be special.’

Louis is set to take to the stage on another five dates in Australia, performing in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth this month.
