Louise Thompson is mum-shamed as neither she nor her baby son Leo wear helmets on ‘dangerous’ bike ride during which she cycles one-handed

Louise Thompson has been mum-shamed over a video which she posted to Instagram.

In the clip, neither the Made In Chelsea star, 33, nor her baby son Leo, 21 months, were wearing helmets while on a ‘dangerous’ bike ride during which she cycled one-handed.

With her little boy strapped to the front of her bicycle, Louise was videoed by her fiance Ryan Libbey, 33, as she happily cycled along a country lane, weaving from side to side.

Encouraging her son to wave at Ryan by doing so herself, Louise was left steering with just one hand while riding the bike. 

The mum-of-one did the same again a short while later, when patting Leo’s head, resulting into her swerving into the grass verge and laughing as she regained control.

Louise wrote alongside the video: ‘What are you grateful for today? Me: THIS. First time cycling with Leo and his face has me in stitches.

‘I don’t know why but the spiky hair / Cheshire Cat grin combo is giving me major Sherman from American Pie vibes’

But some of her 1.4M followers found issue with the fact that neither Louise nor her young son were wearing helmets.

A children’s health care assistant commented: ‘Please wear helmets, if not yourself please put one on Leo, as a paediatric HCA I’ve seen the damage not wearing one can do.’

Louise responded: ‘Oh gosh yes!! We literally did a loop on a teeny path just to try it out for less than 1 min with no cars or obstacles but i of all people should know that anything is possible (as much as I try not to live my whole life in total debilitating fear/paranoia).

‘I don’t have a bike at home in London as it got stolen but I’ll order one for Leo for his little push bike. ❤️.’ 

But her explanation was not sufficient for many, with one person adding: ‘It’s irrelevant that it’s a short ride. The child should be protected with a helmet. It only takes one second to fall off a bike and cause a head injury.

Yikes! Louise’s explanation was not sufficient for many who were shocked by the lack of safety

‘Sorry but this is basic, no excuses that she’s ”learning to be a parent” etc. Its the absolute bare minimum requirement to adequately protect your child.’ 

Another wrote: ‘So unbelievably dangerous! As a paramedic it makes me very sad that as a ‘public’ figure your are not wearing one and also allowing your child to not wear one.’

‘The straps too!!! Omg! Leo is NOT properly strapped in either! Please be careful louise, there is probably no greater trauma than losing a child. Why the hell is Ryan laughing?’ asked someone else.
