Love Island 2021 winner Millie insists she NEVER considered taking £50k prize money

Love Island 2021 winner Millie Court has revealed she never considered taking the entire £50k prize money in the final, despite her boyfriend Liam Reardon’s disloyal behaviour in Casa Amor.

The Essex beauty, 24, and the 22-year-old bricklayer also discussed their marriage plans and moving in together in their first interview after Monday’s final episode.

After they were crowned the winners, Millie picked the envelope with the money inside, meaning she could choose to keep the cash herself and leave Liam with nothing, or split it evenly between them – which is the option she ultimately chose.

Sweet: Love Island 2021 winner Millie Court has revealed she never considered taking the entire £50k prize money in the final, despite her boyfriend Liam Reardon ‘s disloyal behaviour in Casa Amor

Despite Liam’s scandal at Casa Amor, which saw him kiss another girl, Lillie, while Millie remained faithful at the main villa, the loyal lady confirmed she is planning to spend both her life and the prize money with the Welsh native.

‘No, never [would I not split it]. That didn’t cross my mind,’ she said. ‘I came on the show to find love at the end of the day, so we said for ages now anything after we found what we found was a bonus.

‘Then to receive that money, it was just incredible. But there wasn’t a doubt in my mind – I was going to share that with Liam because we’re about to experience life together.’

Liam added: ‘What I have with Millie money can’t buy, any money in the world would mean nothing to me unless I had Millie with me. I would have been splitting it one hundred million percent.’

Although Liam returned to the show without Lillie, attempting to paper over the infidelity, she swiftly entered after him and told Millie what had gone on.

Despite splitting with him at first, Millie eventually took Liam back, with them saying ‘I Love You’ earlier this week.

Their rocky romance ended on a high during the final episode, with the labourer asking Millie to be his official girlfriend during their live exit interview.

Reflecting on the moment he asked to make their relationship official, Liam added: ‘I dropped the “L-bomb” a few days ago and said that I loved Millie and she said the same back, so we’re already a thing we are together but it’s just putting that title on it.

‘It was on my mind. Laura asked us the question, ‘Is boyfriend, girlfriend coming next?’ and Millie said, ‘Yes in the future, it’ll be happening soon’ and I thought, ‘Well, it’s been on my mind so let’s do it!’

‘I couldn’t think of anything more [that I wanted to do] than making Millie my girlfriend because I love her.’

Millie gushed: ‘It was a no brainer to say yes. It was a really nice, sweet gesture.’

The couple confirmed a wedding is on the horizon after they were asked how asking to be Liam’s girlfriend on TV could top a proposal.

‘The proposal is going to have to be massive!’ the fashion buyer’s administrator insisted.

Liam concurred: ‘It’s going to be huge, I’m sure I can pull it out of the bag. I’m sure I can do it.’

As the 22-year-old hunk is based in Wales and his girlfriend resides in Essex, they confirmed they are planning to live closer to one another, with the goal of moving in together next year.

Liam said: ‘I love where I’m from but I would like to venture off and move to somewhere new and Essex seems like the perfect place really.

‘I know some of the boys who were in the villa we got on so well and they mentioned moving in together and they’d like to move to Essex so that’s something I would definitely be considering and that’s my plan really, moving to Essex.

‘Millie and I will move in together eventually. We’ve been living together in the villa together for the past 7/8 weeks. We don’t want to jump into living together straight away because we don’t want to add too much pressure.’

Shocked! The final - which aired on ITV2 on Monday night - saw the pair's very rocky journey end in glee as they won £50k, and split the money between them, with Liam asking Millie to be his official girlfriend during their live exit interview

Admirable: ‘No, never [would I not split it]. That didn’t cross my mind,’ Millie said ‘I came on the show to find love at the end of the day, so we said for ages now anything after we found what we found was a bonus’

Millie added: ‘We haven’t been away from each other yet to miss each other and do those things that you do in normal relationships.

‘But us girls [from the villa] will rent a house in Essex, boys will rent a house in Essex, see how that goes for six months and then get a crack on with it [moving in together].’

Liam agreed: ‘That’s exactly how I feel. I think six months then that’s the next step, we move in together,’ as Millie continued: ‘The one thing I want to make sure is that we still stay as strong as we are now.’

Love Island voting figures revealed the couple scored an impressive 42.02% of the final public’s votes, made via the show’s mobile app, while Chloe and Toby, who placed second, earned 30.85% of votes.

Meanwhile Faye and Teddy saw 14.85% of users voting for them, landing them in third place. Kaz and Tyler, who were the first of the four finalists to be booted from the villa, received 12.27% of the votes.

Despite having the wholehearted support of viewers’ at home, the couple insisted they were shocked by their victory and never believed it would happen.

‘It’s a surreal feeling,’ Liam said. ‘We never thought that this would ever happen. We’ve done it together and we’re on top of the world right now, we couldn’t be happier.’

Millie recalled: ‘When it had been fourth and third place and then it got to us, the final two couples that’s when it hit and I was like, ‘Ok this is actually between first and second place now!”‘

When asked what they plan on spending the £50k prize money on, the blonde beauty said:  ‘The first thing I want to do is treat my friends and family. I want to give back to them and do something for them.’

Liam agreed: ‘Yeah, I want to look after my family back home, spoil them as they’ve always done the best for me. I will definitely put money towards a house.’

Smitten: Liam added: 'What I have with Millie money can’t buy, any money in the world would mean nothing to me unless I had Millie with me. I would have been splitting it one hundred million percent'

‘I could build a house for us both but that’s way down the line. That’s when the proposal happens.’

They put their parenting skills to that test in the show’s iconic baby challenge last week, where they were given electronic baby dolls to look after.

Asserting their baby’s incessant crying didn’t put them off, the couple confirmed they both want three children.

‘Yeah, definitely – family’s a massive thing for me,’ Liam said when asked if he wants kids.

‘To have children one day is a dream, it’s something I really want and with someone I love. I said I wanted three children, I think Millie feels the same,’ to which Millie interjects: ‘Yeah!’

He continued: ‘I’ve had an amazing upbringing myself, my family being so loving, I just want to give that to my children.’

Millie added: We’re both very family orientated, we both want kids. We both want to get married,’ while Liam gushed: ‘That’s our plan, we’re on the same page.’

The couple had the opportunity to meet their partner’s loved ones on Sunday’s episode as the islanders’ families arrived at the famous Spanish villa.

And Liam’s dad Paul was quick to pull his son on his Casa Amor antics as he teased him: ‘We shouted at the TV a few times.’

Despite his questionable behaviour, both family’s offered their seal of approval and have been getting on like a house on fire, according to Millie and Liam.

‘Our parents meeting, before I’d even met them, they’d met each other. They got on very, very well! We couldn’t be happier,’ said Liam to which Millie added: ‘They went out for drinks!’
