Ask the Expert: Lucy Bartholomew, Travel Support Executive at British Airways Holidays on putting customers first, loving Disney and Kitchen Sink ice-cream sundaes

What makes British Airways Holidays unique?

‘I’ve worked for several travel companies, and was drawn to British Airways Holidays by its professionalism and desire to do right. Great service is at the forefront of everything we do, and our ATOL protection, 24-hour holiday helpline and Customer Promise all give extra peace of mind.’

What makes your job special?

‘I love travel and helping book exotic holidays to a wide variety of destinations around the world. I’m also a proud Disney geek, so I’m always ready to pass on tips about Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.’

Top tips to relax and shop at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida?

‘I like Disney Springs. It’s quieter in the day with room to relax and bustles at night with live entertainment and lots of shops. World of Disney® store is the best one-stop shop for Disney merchandise, while the Marketplace Co-Op is great for more unusual souvenirs – I like the WonderGround Gallery.

Where’s best to eat there?

‘You’re spoilt for choice for treats. The Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is incredible. Its Kitchen Sink ice-cream sundaes are so big you can share one with the whole family.

For a perfect Disney dinner, I like Le Cellier at the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase. The steaks and cheddar soup are incredible.

‘If you like cookies, cake and coffee try Gideon’s Bakehouse, Disney Springs. Lines get long but it’s worth the wait. Each month they have limited edition goodies. I’m still thinking of the Orange Mocha Nitro Cold Brew I had last time!’

Any other tips for visitors?

‘If you want to see the Magic Kingdom Park fireworks but are tired from a day full of fun, head to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Sit on the beach and enjoy the show from a distance, with music piped in from the park.’

Where’s your next holiday?

‘It’s to Walt Disney World Resort, of course! I can’t wait to try the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride at EPCOT. At Disney there’s always something new. I’m also exploring Florida’s Gulf Coast.’
