Some of the biggest names in golf have taken to social media to pay tribute to Grayson Murray after the sudden passing of the 30-year-old. 

The PGA Tour announced the sad death of the American on Saturday, 24 hours after he withdrew towards the end of his second round the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas.

Murray told his playing partners at the time he wasn’t feeling well, but no cause of death has been confirmed.

The world number 58 leaves behind his fiancee, Christiana. The couple was reportedly due to marry in the spring of 2024.

Upon the sad news several golfers have taken to X to pay their tributes to Murray, including Luke Donald, Bubba Watson and Justin Thomas.

In his post, Donald revealed speaking to Murray a few months ago as he seeked advice about Augusta, and paid respects to the golfer.  

He wrote: ‘Truly devastating news that Grayson Murray has passed away. 

‘He asked me for some advice on how to play Augusta a few months ago, last week I saw him at the PGA Championship, life truly is precious. 

‘My condolences and prayers to his whole family that they may find some peace.’ 

Fellow American Weston was equally devasted to hear the news and shared his tribute by posting, ‘Very sad to hear the news of Grayson Murray’s passing today. 

‘Life is so fragile… I was just hugging you at the Masters, telling you how proud of you I am. Thankful to have known you.

‘My deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. He will be missed.’ 

Another American Justin Thomas, also shared his condolences and admitted he was speechless to hear the news of Murray’s passing. 

Thomas wrote: ‘Speechless to hear about Grayson. Guy had been through so many ups and downs to get where he was.

‘I hurt so much for his family and the people closest to him. My condolences and deepest sympathies.’

There was also memories of a young Murray from broadcaster Damon Hack, who watched him as 17-year-old golfer, who dreamt of making it on the PGA tour.

Murray turned professional in 2015 before going on to win twice on the PGA Tour,  picking up his first title in 2017 at the Barbasol Championship, when he was just 24. His second and final title came in January in Hawaii.
