Luke Littler edges through to the quarter-finals of the World Darts Championship after nervy deciding-set win over Ryan Joyce – as he keeps alive his dream of becoming the sport’s youngest-ever champion

  • Luke Littler was pushed all the way by Ryan Joyce in their last-16 clash
  • He finally overcame his fellow Englishman to move into the quarter-finals
  • Littler will face Nathan Aspinall in the last eight on New Year’s Day

Luke Littler battled his way through to the quarter-finals of the World Championship with a 4-3 win over Ryan Joyce on Monday night.

The 17-year-old sensation went a set ahead on three separate occasions, but Joyce simply refused to go away as he pushed Littler to a decider.

But Littler’s class shone through in the end as he pinned double 12 to book his spot in the last eight.

A showdown with Nathan Aspinall now awaits on New Year’s Day, with Littler just three matches away from becoming the sport’s youngest-ever champion.

Aspinall’s passage to the quarter-finals was far more straightforward as he dispatched Germany’s Ricardo Pietreczko 4-0 in Monday’s afternoon session.
