Luke Wilson was spotted returning to his Los Angeles-area home just hours after the actor was involved in a deadly four-vehicle collision that injured golfer Bill Haas.
The 46-year-old Royal Tenenbaums star drove up to his house in Santa Monica early Wednesday afternoon behind the wheel of his battered forest green SUV which was reportedly ‘clipped’ in the Tuesday evening incident involving a Ferrari.
Witnesses on scene of the collision praised Wilson as ‘the hero’ after dramatically rescuing a woman trapped in her car, according to the Daily News.

‘Luke Wilson was the hero,’ witness Sean Herigs said, who assisted the Hollywood star in the dramatic rescue. ‘His car was also clipped, but he just pulled over and jumped out to help immediately. He was leading the charge.’
Herigs recalled that they were both worried the toppled BMW was about to burst into flames and jumped into action to save the 50-year-old female driver.
‘She was screaming for help, crying,’ Herigs said. ‘I leaned in through the passenger window to help as she pushed herself up and got her leg out. He helped her out the back of the car.
‘Luke and myself, we carried her over to the curb and got her situated.’

The crash involved a Ferrari, a BMW and two other cars in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood at 6:31 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Haas, who had been practicing for a golf tournament nearby, was a passenger in the Ferrari which police said was ‘traveling at speed’. The 71-year-old male driver of the sports car, Mark Gibello, was hosting Haas at his nearby family home for the golf competition. He died at the scene of the accident.
Legally Blonde star Wilson’s car was ‘clipped’ as a result of the crash and he escaped uninjured. An unidentified 50-year-old woman who was driving the BMW has also been taken to hospital.
‘I believe the cause [of the Ferrari driver’s death] was a high rate of speed and the individual lost control, colliding into several vehicles,’ Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department told the Palisades Post.

Four cars were involved in the collision. The Ferrari is believed to have clipped Luke Wilson’s Toyota FJ SUV which was traveling northbound, police told KTLA. It then collided with the BMW before flipping multiple times. Another vehicle suffered minor damage, according to the Pali Post.
Haas and the unnamed female victim were reported to have been ‘seriously injured at the scene’ but police later said the pro-golfer, who is ranked 67 in the world, is doing well. Haas’s relatives later said he suffered leg injuries but miraculously escaped without any broken bones.
Detective Jeff Fischer of the LAPD said: ‘I can confirm Luke Wilson was driving the vehicle, the Toyota FJ that was travelling northbound. His vehicle just basically got clipped by the Ferrari.
‘Mr Bill Haas was the passenger in the Ferrari. Apparently, from what I was told, he’s doing OK too.’

World No 67 Haas was due to contest this week’s PGA Tour event, the Genesis Open, beginning on Thursday at the Riviera Country Club which is just a few miles from the scene of the crash.
Haas, 35, is a six-time winner on the PGA Tour. He is married to wife Julie and has three children William, Harrison and Nora.
Haas’ father, Jay, a fellow professional golfer, told the Golf Channel that Bill has pain and swelling in his leg but suffered no broken bones. He is expected to make a full recovery and has been released from hospital.
‘Bill was very fortunate,’ Jay Haas told Golf Channel. He has now withdrawn from the Open and is heading home to Greenville, South Carolina.
According to the sports broadcaster, Gibello was friends with Haas’ swing coach, Billy Harmon, and was a well-known figure on the local sports circuit. He was said to be ‘instrumental’ in bringing the Walker Cup and U.S. Open to LA.

The PGA Tour and Bill Haas’ manager, Allen Hobbs of Players Group Management, said in a statement: ‘Last night in Pacific Palisades, California, Bill Haas was involved in a serious car accident in which the driver—a member of the family with whom Haas and his family were staying for the Genesis Open—was killed. While Bill escaped serious injuries and has been released from the hospital, he is understandably shaken up and—more importantly—his deepest condolences go out to the host family during this tragic and difficult time.’
‘Bill will withdraw from the Genesis Open and plans to head home to Greenville to recover. He appreciates the support of friends, family and the golf world as a whole, and he has asked for privacy as he processes what has happened.’
Wilson made his name as a comedy actor in hits including The Royal Tenenbaums and Anchorman. His brother Owen is also a Hollywood star.
One of his most notably recent roles was as NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the 2015 drama, Concussion, starring Will Smith, which charted the league’s battle to supress research on CTE amongst players.
Last year the Wilson brothers lost their father, Robert ‘Bob’ Wilson to Alzheimer’s at age 75 after a long battle with the disease.
A legendary figure in Texan television, he was credited with bringing Monty Python’s Flying Circus to the United States. The star was last known to be in a long-term relationship with former basketball star Meg Simpson. They dated from 2008 to 2014. Wilson has also been linked to Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow in past.
