An imposing man who stopped traffic in the middle of a busy intersection and stood on top of a car taunting other motorists, was chased away by a furious driver nearly half his size.

Footage shows a tall man dressed in black and wearing socks and slides, arguing with three others in Melbourne’s Lygon Street in Carlton in front of shocked onlookers pleading with them to stop.

It is not clear how the altercation started, but a heated exchange broke out at a red light and the group appear to have stepped out of their vehicles on the famous Italian restaurant strip.

After storming up the traffic island, the man dressed in black gets into a scuffle with a motorists before someone a witness throws water at the pair.

Meanwhile, an older woman can be heard yelling on from the side of the street for most of the duration of the clip telling them to ‘grow up’.

In the midst of the chaos the man in black leaps onto the bonnet of a white Volkswagen before swinging a punch at a man.

He then steps down and begins facing off with him, before a much shorter man in shorts and a singlet charges forward forcing him to quickly back away deep into the intersection.

The video was posted to Facebook with the caption: ‘Is that iron Mike [?]’ – a reference to former world heavyweight boxing champion, Mike Tyson.
