A van fire has caused peak hour commuter chaos in a major Sydney tunnel, with motorists being urged to avoid the area.
Sydney’s M4 and M8 motorways and the Rozelle Interchange remain closed westbound on Thursday morning in St Peters due to a fire in the M8 tunnel.
The blaze erupted in the westbound lane tunnel near Tempe.
Motorway crew, emergency services, transport for NSW and a tow truck are attending the scene, according to Live Traffic Sydney.
