MA woman arrested twice in one day for stealing four cars

A Massachusetts woman allegedly stole four cars in one day, seemingly trying to re-enact popular movie ‘Gone in Sixty Seconds’.

Chandra Bourelle is being held without bail in Berkshire County Jail after leading police in two cities on a wild chase in stolen vehicles beginning on Friday morning.

The 33-year-old started the day by allegedly trying to steal a Mazda pickup truck wile the owner was shopping inside Cumberland Farms on Commercial Street in Adams, according to a report by Adams Police Officer Dakota Baker, the Berkshire Eagle reported.

The truck’s owner told cops that he was inside the store when he saw her inside of his truck. He ran outside and pulled the keys from the ignition before Bourelle could drive away, authorities said.

She was then arrested and released into her own custody.

Bourelle then allegedly stole an idling Toyota Highlander around 10am from outside of the Racing Mart on Commercial Street, which is a half-mile walk from the police station.

Hours later, Bourelle then jumped into a Lexus that was idling outside of Olmsted Manor located on the Cranwell Spa & Golf Resort around 7pm, according to a police report filed by Lenox Police Officer William C. Colvin.

The owner of the luxury car, who is an employee at the resort, emerged to find the woman sitting in the driver’s seat of the car.

Bourelle then locked the doors and refused to speak to the car’s owners before speeding off when he reached to open the door, police said.

Colvin said that around 8.45pm authorities were called to the nearby Seven Hills Resort where an employee’s BMW was stolen.

The luxury car had been idling in front of the hotel’s main building.

Colvin and fellow Officer Eric Kirby arrived to find the Lexus that was stolen earlier in the parking lot at Seven Hills.

The stolen BMW was then spotted about around 10pm by Cheshire Police Officer David Tarjick.

He then began to purse the pricey car at a high speed on Route 8 heading north until the driver spun out and lost control of the car.

Police say she stole the first car at Cumberland Farms and was then arrested. After being released from custody, she stole a second vehicle nearby in Adams. She then allegedly drove to Lenox where a third car was stolen at a resort before she drove nearby to a second resort to steal a fourth car

‘She took off at speeds over 100 miles per hour and ended up losing control of the car near Duke’s Sand & Gravel,’ Cheshire Police Chief Timothy Garner told MassLive.com.

‘She didn’t crash, but, and here’s the other thing, she almost hit a flatbed wrecker that was just coming back from returning the Highlander she stole earlier in the day back to Adams.’

Bourelle was then arrested by Tarjick.

A judge revoked Bourelle’s bail; she has been charged larceny of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, destruction of property and attempting to commit a crime.

Bourelle is also facing charges in Cheshire, which include larceny of a motor vehicle, operating with a license suspension, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, failure to stop and excessive speed.

The 33-year-old is set to appear in court on December 18 for a pretrial hearing on those charges.
