Mac Miller is thought to have been dead for hours before his body was discovered in his bedroom after an apparent overdose, it was revealed yesterday.

The 26-year-old rap star, real name Malcolm McCormick, was found dead in his bedroom at his house in the San Fernando Valley area of LA last Friday.

Police investigating his death are said to be looking into a party Mac held at his home the night before he died.

A tiny amount of white powder was found in the house when cops searched his home and it is believed he died of a drug overdose, but the cause is still unknown.

The LA County Coroner is awaiting toxicology results before officially making a ruling, which could be in around a month.

Law enforcement sources have told TMZ that they believe he had died a long time before officers arrived at the scene following a 911 call.

It is believed he died from an overdose but his death certificate states the cause of death is still unknown listed as ‘deferred’.

Soon after the 911 call came in, LAPD and Fire officials swarmed the scene and the performer was pronounced dead at his home.

It was initially thought he suffered a cardiac arrest but that could have been because the emergency caller did not realize he was already dead, it was said.

Miller’s home had been virtually ‘swept clean’ which they say would make ‘no sense’ as someone who had overdosed would not have the foresight to clear their house of paraphernalia.

A statement from Miller’s family last week said: ‘Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26.

‘He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.’

The artist was notably linked to the singer Ariana Grande, who ended their two year relationship back in May.

Less than a week after the split, Miller, who has battled substance abuse and addiction since his teens, was arrested for drink driving after he crashed his SUV and fled the scene.

In multiple interviews Miller said he had started using drugs including cocaine and opiates when he was just 15 years old.
