Machete actor Danny Trejo has rescued a baby trapped in the wreckage of an upturned car.

The 75-year-old star, best known for his villainous roles on screen, has been hailed as a hero after saving a child’s life following a crash in Sylmar, California on Wednesday. 

Danny was Hubbard Street and Jackman Avenue in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood at the time an SUV and a car were in a collision, ABC7 reported.

‘The only thing that saved that little kid was his car seat, honest to God,’ the actor told the station. 

Trejo described the accident to NBCLA, saying; ‘A lady ran a red light and crashed into that Explorer, flipped it over.’

In the moments following the crash, Danny crawled into the overturned wreckage from one side, but was unable to unbuckle the child’s seatbelt.

A fellow Samaritan (identified by CNN as Monica Jackson) climbed through the other window of the vehicle to help unfasten the belt from the other side, and Trejo was able to pull the baby out.

Authorizes from the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed there were minor injuries in the incident, with three people being transported to a nearby hospital.

Trejo advised motorists to ‘pay attention’ to the road.

Danny, who has appeared in Breaking Bad and in movies including Con Air, Desperado and Heat, said that his fortunes in life have been a result of him paying things forward.

The lifelong City of Angels native has also opened up businesses in Southern California, such as Trejo’s Tacos and Trejo’s Coffee & Donuts.
