A man in Florida allegedly attacked his coworker with a machete during a fight over a power cord.

Joshua L Meadows, 33, grew irate with his coworker, 49-year-old Charles Antrobus, while working on a roof in the Florida Keys, on Thursday.

The Marathon, Florida, native was angry that Antrobus unplugged a power cord connected to the tent Meadows was staying in with his girlfriend.

And after Antrobus told Meadows not to plug the cord back in, the man was said to have picked up a machete and began slashing at the air.

A witness called Monroe County Sheriff’s Office about the two men fighting and then Antrobus called and said he had been attacked, according to FlKeys News.

Deputy Michelle Swilley responded to the call and found Antrobus where he detailed the incident and how he had received a ‘series of cuts” from Meadows.

‘The victim’s defensive actions and statement demonstrate that he had a well-founded fear that the suspect intended to do him harm,’ Swilley explained in her report.

A witness also came and confirmed the story to the deputy.

Meadows asserted, however, that Antrobus was the aggressor and caused ‘him to push [Antrobus] backwards.’

He denied having a machete, acknowledging that Antrobus fell a few times ‘but kept coming at him.’

His girlfriend added that Antrobus had wielded the weapon because he was upset his girlfriend broke up with him.

She claimed Meadows disarmed the man after a scuffle but Antrobus held unto the machete.

Police didn’t buy the story and arrested Meadows, even though, they did not find a machete.

He has been booked in the Monroe County Detention Center with no bond.
