Machine Gun Kelly is left stunned during a live radio interview after mishearing the host’s introduction: ‘Are you being facetious right now?’
He has spoken at length about his troubled childhood and working tirelessly to achieve his success.
And in an awkward misunderstanding on Wednesday, Machine Gun Kelly appeared rather offended by what was meant to be a glowing introduction by radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on their Sydney breakfast show.
The American rapper, 30, accused the presenters of claiming he was ‘born with a silver spoon in his mouth’, when in fact Kyle had been joking about his colleague Jackie’s privileged upbringing.

Kyle said of the hitmaker, whose real name is Colson Baker, during the introduction: ‘This kid, he brought himself up.’
Speaking to Jackie, he added: ‘You know, how you got brought up by your very rich parents, and you had the silver spoon up your a**ehole your whole life.
‘Then here’s kids like me who brought themselves up because our parents didn’t want us. And that’s Machine Gun Kelly. The guy is a worldwide success!’
There was a long pause before the musician, who was on the line from the U.S., coldly asked: ‘Are you being facetious right now?’

Kyle, assuming Machine Gun Kelly was asking if he was being serious about the circumstances of his own tough upbringing, responded: ‘No, no! I brought myself up. I was a homeless teenager here in Australia, and I know what it’s like.’
There was another long pause before the Bad Things rapper realised he had misheard Kyle’s original remark about silver spoons.
‘Oh, I’m sorry! I thought you were referring to me. I thought you said I had a silver spoon in my mouth!’ the mortified star explained.
A horrified Jackie replied: ‘Oh my God! He was referring to me!’
Elsewhere in the interview, Machine Gun Kelly refused to speak about his highly publicised romance with actress Megan Fox.

However, he did make it clear that his new relationship with Megan meant he wouldn’t be entertaining any admirers when Kyle told the artist his female producers all had a crush on him.
Machine and Megan went public with their romance in May, after meeting on set of the movie Midnight in the Switchgrass.
Megan was previously married to former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Brian Austin Green.
The former couple began dating after meeting on set of a TV sitcom in 2004. Following an on-off-on again engagement, they married in 2010.
Megan and Brian, 47, share sons Noah, eight, Bodhi, six, and Journey, four.
