Macron’s security jokingly calls him ‘bastard’ and ‘idiot’

  • One of the his bodyguards was caught on camera insulting the French leader
  • However, the comment was made in jest and was the result of a shared joke
  • The footage was filmed in the town of Clermond-Ferrance on January 26

One of Macron’s bodyguards called the French President a ‘bastard’ and ‘idiot’ during a recent visit to the central city of Clermond-Ferrance.

The unnamed member of his security detail engaged the president in a spot of light banter after Macron joked that his team were illiterate.

In footage showing the jocular exchange, the French president is seen signing autographs for a gaggle of school children.

He asks an unnamed member of his detail for a pad to write on.

Seconds later he is handed a case made of Kevlar fibre – a tough, synthetic material used in bulletproof and stabproof vests.

Macron is seen to say ‘This thing is not bulletproof. It’s trash.’

The president then jokes that his security detail has no need for a decent writing case because the services have not yet hired any personnel ‘who know how to write’.

His bodyguard replies swiftly, jokingly calling the president an ‘idiot’ and ‘bastard’.

The video shows Macron’s close, even personal, relationship with the team that protects him.

The personal interaction, which occurred on January 26, was caught on camera by local press.

It comes after President Donald Trump made it clear in an interview with Piers Morgan that he was thrilled at the way Emmanuel Macron had ‘rolled out the red carpet’ for him on a State visit to France.

‘Emmanuel is a great guy,’ he said.

‘His wife is fantastic. I like them a lot. We had dinner at the top of the Eiffel Tower and everything was closed.’
