The iconic car driven by Mel Gibson in the Mad Max films is up for sale.
The 1974 Ford XB Falcon GT351 that featured in the iconic Australian films has been put up for sale at the Orlando Auto Museum in Florida in the United States.
The Falcon coupe, known in the movie as the Pursuit Special Interceptor, appeared in the first and second films, as well as the most recent installment Max Mad: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy.
Mel Gibson drove the Interceptor in the first two films before it later ended up in a junk yard

The museum hosts a range of famous movie cars including one of the Delorean DMC-12 cars from Back To The Future and James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5.
The business has decided to cull some of its famous cars including the Australian icon ahead of a move to a new premises in three hours away in Orlando, according to Which Car.
The Interceptor is currently fitted with all the custom parts seen in the movies, including two large fuel tanks in the rear, a custom front end and aggressive wheel arches.
It also likely features the original 351ci V8 which is attached to the imposing but non-functioning Weiand 6-71 supercharger that pokes out the bonnet.

The price of the Falcon is currently listed as ‘price on application’ but there is speculation it could fetch for as much as $5million after Steve McQueen’s Ford Mustang used in Bullitt sold for a similar amount in January.
Despite the astounding potential price, the Interceptor previous spent many years rotting away under a canvas at a wrecking yard in the Adelaide Hills.
It was only when a fan of the films tracked the car down and purchased it that the car was finally fully restored.
He then toured the car around Australia before it was sent to the National Motor Museum in Adelaide.
The Interceptor was later sold to a UK museum that was purchased in 2011 by the current owner and real estate developer Michael Dezer who sent the car to the U.S.
