She’s one of Australia’s most decorated athletes, now Susie O’Neill is making waves in a whole new way.

On Thursday night, the Aussie swimming legend, 50, traded her goggles for turntables as she debuted her new career as a DJ.

O’Neill, dubbed Madame Butterfly by Australian fans, hit the decks for the first time at an exclusive gig at the MET nightclub in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

The Olympic champion looked effortlessly cool in a black singlet and trendy sunglasses, clearly enjoying herself as she spun the latest hits.

Among her supporters on the night were her Nova colleagues Ashley Bradnam and David Lutteral along with her two children Alix, 20, and Bill, 18, who cheered her on from the dance floor.

The mother-of-two spoke to the Courier-Mail earlier this month about the upcoming gig.

‘I never really went to nightclubs when I was younger because I was always swimming,’ she told the publication.

‘So I thought maybe it’d be fun to not just go to the nightclub but be a DJ,’ she explained.

Elsewhere in the chat Susie teased that fans can expect an unusual set list from her show.

‘We’re going to try and make it a mixture of current stuff but also nostalgic stuff that people will remember,’ she said.

‘I’ve got my son who is going to send me what he says is really good songs that are going off on TikTok at the moment… This could fall really flat, but I’m not going to let that stop me.’

A gifted swimmer, Susie rose to fame at 14, after joining the Olympic team and later scored 35 Australian titles.

Known as ‘Madame Butterfly’ during her stellar sports career Susie has billed her DJ set as ‘Butterfly and Bangers’ as a tribute to amazing years as a swimmer.

Since 2013 she has been a regular on Nova, first as a sports caster and later as a host alongside her Nova breakfast team.

Susie retired from swimming after the 2000 Olympics. She shares two children, Alix, 19, and Bill, 18, with husband, ophthalmologist Cliff Fairley.
