He told MailOnline: ‘Strictly Come Dancing – people are obsessed with this whole infatuation around hooking up and dancing.
‘The reason why dance brings you so close together is you have to immediately get over the awkward stage. You have to get over that straightaway so it fast-forwards a relationship.
‘Relationships are all about trust and loyalty and when you’re dancing with someone it is about the same things – you can’t let each other down.
‘You’re such a team; you never want to let the other person down. You fall into the romantic side of things because that’s what relationships are all about.
‘You build a bond with whoever your partner is that is forever lasting. I can easily see why it happens.’
Jamie joked: ‘I haven’t told anyone this but Karen tried a lot… no, she didn’t once. She saw me as her weird younger brother. If Karen was ever in trouble I would be there 100 per cent.’
