‘Madmen’ gatecrashers injure eight with car in Machester

This is the terrifying moment ‘madmen’ repeatedly drove a car into crowds at a 65th birthday party.

Shocking CCTV footage shows three men, who gatecrashed the family do, get into a white VW Golf before driving at people.

One party-goer ends up on the bonnet of the car before the driver can be seen reversing and driving at people several more times.

Father-of-seven Steven Ward was injured and had to drag his elderly father out of the way of the car

Detectives are still searching for the men following the attack which injured eight at Hollinwood Cricket Club in Oldham, Greater Manchester on September 23.

Officers are urging witnesses – or anyone with information – to come forward.

Those at the party told police three men – two Asian and one white – thought to be in their 20s, turned up uninvited.

The family did not know the men, one of whom punched someone in the face.

Father-of-seven Steven Ward was injured and had to drag his elderly father out of the way of the car after he had been knocked to the ground.

Several of his own children were at the event – as well as other family members’ kids.

Steven, 37, said: ‘I think they then panicked when they saw how many of us there were and ran towards the car park and got into a white VW Golf and just rammed us.

‘We thought they were going to turn around and leave, but they turned and drove straight at us.

‘They kept driving at us, reversing, and they did it loads of times. They hit us. They were madmen.’

Steven added: ‘We are still very angry these people are still out there. Someone knows something, but they aren’t coming forward.

‘These men didn’t care what they were doing. Someone could have been really hurt.’

David Winterbottom, president of Hollinwood Cricket Club said: ‘Justice needs to be done for what happened that night.’
