CHAMPIONS FESTIVAL

The focal point of the festivities will be the UEFA Champions Festival, which will be running at various prominent sites in the centre of Madrid between Thursday and Sunday.

A stage is being set up at the Puerta del Sol, the most central square in the city, for live music performances and DJ sets.

There will also be displays by football freestylers and, on Saturday evening, Real Madrid and Brazil legend Roberto Carlos will drive the Champions League trophy from the Nissan sponsors stand to the stadium for the final.

In between all this, there will be live concerts by various Spanish singers and bands on the main stage.

UEFA are at pains to point out that the match will not be screened live in the square for those fans without tickets.

LIVERPOOL MEETING POINT

When the time comes for the big game, Liverpool fans are being urged to assemble at their designated ‘Fan Zone’ on the Avenida Felipe II and then take the Metro from GOYA station to the stadium.

They should take Line 2 (the red line, heading towards Las Rosas) for seven stops and alight at Las Rosas station, where it is a 15-minute walk to the Wanda Metropolitano.

TOTTENHAM MEETING POINT

Spurs fans are being urged to meet at their Plaza de Colon ‘Fan Zone’ then walk a short distance up Calle de Genova to the Alonso Martinez metro station.

From there, they should take Line 5 (the green line, heading towards Alameda de Osuna), travel 11 stops and get off at Canillejas station. It’s then a 20-minute walk to the stadium.

THE WANDA METROPOLITANO

Atletico Madrid’s 67,829-capacity stadium is stunning and pretty much brand new, having only opened in 2017, replacing their old Estadio Vicente Calderon home.

It is located in the north-east of the city, not too far from Barajas Airport, and about six miles from the centre of Madrid.
