MAFS Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson welcome their twins 10 weeks early

Married At First Sight’s Melissa Rawson and her fiancé Bryce Ruthven have welcomed their twin boys 10 weeks early. 

Bryce announced the news on Monday morning in a statement to New Idea magazine, revealing that Melissa, 32, had gone into labour two days ago.  

‘We had planned to spend the weekend building the nursery and setting things up for the twins, but that all changed early Saturday morning,’ he said.

‘Even though the boys have arrived early, they’re doing really well and are getting the best care possible.’ 

Bryce went on to thank the staff at Frankston Hospital in Melbourne, where Melissa gave birth. 

‘The boys are going to spend a few weeks in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), they’re responding well to treatment and are squeezing our fingers which is the best feeling in the world.’

‘It’s been a whirlwind but we’re so incredibly happy,’ workplace trainer Melissa told New Idea magazine at the time. 

Melissa admitted she ‘couldn’t stop crying and said ‘holy s**t’ seven times’ after the nurse told her she was pregnant with twins during her first ultrasound scan.

In August, the couple announced via Instagram they were expecting two boys. 

Uploading footage from their at-home gender reveal party, Bryce wrote: ‘So excited to meet our two babies! Bring on December.’

She told The Herald Sun in August: ‘Bryce has taken over the housewife role.’ 

‘He does all the cooking and cleaning and taking care of our new pup. He is going to be a great dad. I can see it already,’ she added.

She also credited the former radio presenter with helping her embrace the idea of starting a family.  

‘Parenthood was never anything I had considered before until I went on the show,’ she said, referring to her controversial stint on Married At First Sight.

Melissa explained she’d never thought children were on the cards, nor that she’d ever meet the right man with whom to start a family. 

The couple became engaged earlier this year, after Bryce popped the question during a helicopter ride overlooking the Melbourne CBD. 

They are looking to tie the knot towards the end of 2022.

Meanwhile, the couple’s union on Married At First Sight was a flashpoint of controversy this year.

Some viewers accused Bryce of ‘domestic abuse’ and gaslighting, but Melissa always maintained she didn’t view their relationship as abusive.

A Change.org petition calling for Channel Nine to apologise for ‘failing in its duty of care’ towards Melissa gained thousands of signatures.

However, the campaign was dismissed by the network and show producers.
