Married At First Sight groom Jesse Burford admits he staged paparazzi photos of himself holding hands with co-star Janelle Han to ‘stir the pot’
Married At First Sight’s Jesse Burford has finally revealed the truth behind viral photos of him holding hands with his co-star bride Janelle Han.
On Wednesday, the 31-year-old wedding celebrant told PerthNow that while sparks did fly between the pair, their relationship never progressed beyond friendship.
‘It’s quite ironic, because we deliberately took photos of us holding hands to stir the pot,’ he told the publication.
‘Janelle and I knew each other a little bit at that point, but the funny thing is that after we started taking pictures of us cuddling and going out and stuff, that began the process of us actually connecting.
‘We did share a kiss before she moved to Sydney, and I think if she stayed in Perth it probably could have gone somewhere, to be honest with you.’

Jesse also told the outlet that he has no plans to use dating apps like Tinder because the amount of propositions he has received via social media were enough.
Previously speaking to Daily Mail Australia in May, Jesse laughed off recent reports that the pair were dating and confirmed, ‘we are just friends’.
‘The strongest connection I’ve made with anyone in the cast is definitely Janelle,’ he added.
‘We did share a kiss before she moved to Sydney, and I think if she stayed in Perth it probably could have gone somewhere, to be honest with you, he said
‘We went through the same thing [being cheated on] and we are both from the same city,’ he added.
Jesse said he felt friendless and ‘isolated’ while filming the show, but things had turned around since production wrapped in December.
‘I didn’t have a best friend,’ he confessed.
‘I felt completely isolated… Like, Ollie and Rupert [Bugden] were so tight. I was so envious of their friendship.’
Jesse said the only person he felt any connection with in the experiment was Janelle, followed by Cameron Woods, Harrison Boon and Duncan James
‘I felt like Claire [his partner] very much enjoyed having her own space and me not being in it. I felt like I didn’t have a best friend on MAFS.
‘My best friend, who was supposed to be my wife, kissed another dude and then didn’t honour my request to leave, and made me freaking stay and have to endure a redemption arc for her.’
He said the only person he felt any connection with in the experiment was Janelle, followed by Cameron Woods, Harrison Boon and Duncan James.
Janelle also recently told the Back to Reality podcast that she and Jesse ‘trauma bonded’ after their partners on the show, Adam Seed and Claire Nomarhas, cheated on them with each other.
