MAFS groom Liam Cooper worried that Brooke Blurton’s sexuality will be exploited for ratings

Married At First Sight’s Liam Cooper shares his ‘worry’ that Brooke Blurton’s bisexuality will be ‘objectified and glorified’ on the new season of The Bachelorette

Brooke Blurton will make history when she returns to screens as the first bisexual lead on Channel 10’s The Bachelorette.

And ahead of Wednesday night’s premiere, bisexual Married At First Sight groom Liam Cooper has revealed his concerns that her sexuality will be exploited for drama and ratings.

Speaking to The Wash on Sunday, Liam, 30, said: ‘I do worry, because I know females who are bisexuals get treated differently to males who are, and get objectified and glorified more in this sense’.

‘I know as a male who is bisexual, other males think it’s disgusting and have more of an opinion about it – and you get the typical “you’re gay”, “pick a side” comments.

‘However, I’ve noticed that with females who are bisexual, it’s more of a “hot” and “sexy” thing and then becomes more about this, rather than celebrating [their sexuality],’ he said.

Liam said that he feels like men will be watching Brooke’s season of the dating show in hopes of seeing two females kiss, rather than watching it to celebrate how far the LGBTQIA+ community has come.

Liam went on to tell the publication that he was not prepared for the amount of  backlash from viewers he received during his time on MAFS.

‘It surprised me when I received those comments, as I’d only had nothing but positive things generally being said to me [before the show],’ he said.

Following his experience on the Channel 9 experiment, Liam says that he hopes that viewers educate themselves and learn to treat everyone the same – regardless of their sexuality.

And while he may have not found love with his ‘bride’ Georgia Fairweather, Liam has found happiness with MAFS NZ groom Samuel Levi.

Liam confirmed the news in July, after Daily Mail Australia reported that the pair were ‘inseparable’ after spending quality time together in Brisbane.

The ex prison case worker let the cat out of the bag by posting a photo of the pair cuddled up for a selfie, alongside a caption about their Hallmark-esque love story.

‘When a country boy finds a city boy,’ the reality star captioned the post.
