EXCLUSIVE: Married At First Sight’s Jake Edwards ‘king hit’ and left ‘knocked out for almost two minutes’ while walking home in Melbourne’s South Wharf

Married At First Sight star Jake Edwards has revealed that he was brutally attacked on Melbourne’s South Wharf.
The 33-year-old shared a throwback picture of the horrific 2017 incident this week, saying that he was ‘king hit and left unconcious for nearly two minutes.’
He told Daily Mail Australia on Friday that the assault happened on a night out while celebrating his 100th game with the Victorian Football League.

‘It also ended up being my last [game] due to the injuries that I suffered: a broken nose, stitches to my skull and fractured ribs,’ he said.
Jake said the attack was a ‘completely unprovoked coward attack.’
The VFL star was alone at the time. A group of bystanders thankfully responded, calling the ambulance and police.
The reality star’s attackers were found three-months later, following a comprehensive police search.

‘We spent two years in court. They were found guilty and received three months jail and a 300-hour Community Correctional Orders,’ he said.
‘The incident left a mental scar on me. It wasn’t until recently that I realised the impact it was having on my life then and now.
Jake now experiences bouts of anxiety when going out and is always on ‘constant alert,’ even when accompanied by friends and family.
He wanted to share his story in a bid to help others overcome similar situations.
Speaking out: ‘It is so important to speak about these incidents because of the damage it can leave on people’s lives. It changed mine dramatically and has left a lifetime of trauma I have had to deal with privately,’ said, revealing the incident left him with crippling anxiety

‘I was lucky that I didn’t hit my head on the ground and end my life. It left a massive impact on the people in my life at the time also.
Jake undertook a 4-week stint in a wellbeing retreat in Victoria earlier this year – a decision he is grateful for as he looks ahead to a more positive future.
‘I am doing much better and I work every week with a trauma coach to support my next steps in life,’ he said.
‘But overall I am the happiest I have ever been in my life and the best version of myself ever. You add the last 12 months to all of this and it has certainly been a growth and learning year.’

Jake became a household name in February, after appearing in season eight of Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight.
He was paired with Beck Zemek in the controversial social experiment. Their partnership was dreadfully unsuccessful.
He enjoyed a brief relationship with fitness influencer Sophie Guidolin soon after, but that also fizzled out.
Jake recently relocated to the Gold Coast to set up his new company, Edward Mills.
