MAFS’ Jessika Power reveals the TRUTH about Sam Burgess texts

Jessika Power has come clean about her secret texts with embattled NRL star Sam Burgess.

Earlier this week, Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed that the Married At First Sight star had been exchanging ‘flirty’ messages with the newly-single Sam on Instagram.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Thursday about the sticky situation, the 28-year-old said that she had simply offered her support to the rugby player as a friend and nothing more.

‘I let him know that I was here to chat and just to see if he was okay, so that was it,’ she clarified.

‘There’s no dating going on there!’ she added with a laugh.

Jess also shared her true thoughts on Sam’s estranged wife Phoebe, promising the former WAG that there’s no romance between her and Sam.

‘I just wanted to let [Phoebe] know that there’s nothing going on between Sam and I,’ she said.

‘I feel sorry for her,’ she continued. ‘I feel sorry for anyone that has a broken family or has things going on with somebody that they love with children involved.’

On October 29, the South Sydney Rabbitohs star, 30, struck up a friendship with the reality TV bombshell on Instagram earlier this month.

They started chatting just days after reports surfaced on October 13 that Burgess had separated from Phoebe, who is the mother of his two children, Poppy and Billy.

A source told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday that Burgess has been ‘bragging’ to some of his friends about their exchanges and has even tried to ‘line up a date’.

But despite sending ‘flirty’ messages, Power and Burgess do not appear to be following each another on Instagram.

Burgess’ estranged wife is believed to be an avid fan of Married At First Sight, and even follows an Instagram fan page dedicated to the popular Channel Nine show.

Burgess did not respond when contacted for comment by Daily Mail Australia.

The latest details come off the back of an eventful month for Burgess, who last week was pictured partying on a yacht in Cabo, Mexico, at former rugby league star turned pie entrepreneur Sean Garlick’s 50th birthday party.

At one point, he was seen dancing with a bikini-clad woman on his shoulders, despite having a shoulder injury that could jeopardise his career.

During the festivities, Burgess wore a brown hat, a tribal-inspired necklace and a leopard print arm tie as he soaked up the sun on the luxury vessel.

On October 19, Burgess was slapped with an AVO and banned from going within a kilometre of his estranged wife’s father, Mitchell Hooke, following an argument between the two men at Mr Hooke’s country estate near Bowral, NSW.

The altercation took place after Burgess had arrived at the premises to spend time with his two children: 10-month-old son Billy and two-year-old daughter Poppy.

Mr Hooke reportedly asked Burgess to leave the family’s three hectare Glenquarry farm, which Burgess did, but police were called at about 5pm.

Officers filed an interim apprehended violence order (AVO) against Burgess, and court documents state he is now barred from coming close to the home.

Burgess is also banned from coming within a kilometre of any other place where Mr Hooke, a retired mining executive, lives or works.

He was also hit with standard AVO conditions which prevent him from stalking, intimidating or assaulting Phoebe’s father.

A NSW Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that police are investigating and ‘there are no reports of any injuries.’

Sam is due before Moss Vale Local Court on November 6, where a magistrate could confirm the AVO or dismiss it in its entirety.

There is no suggestion he did anything wrong by visiting the property. Phoebe was not at the farm during Burgess’ weekend visit, with the pair having split weeks earlier.

It was first reported on October 13 that Phoebe and Sam Burgess had broken up for a second time, after they had initially separated in December before reconciling in April.

At the time, an insider told The Sunday Telegraph that Burgess had ‘moved out several weeks’ beforehand.

Burgess is said to have moved out of the couple’s $3.8million marital home in Maroubra, while Phoebe is staying with her parents in the NSW Southern Highlands.

During their brief separation earlier this year, Sam had moved into celebrity accountant Anthony Bell’s $11.5million Dover Heights mansion.

In April, Phoebe confirmed to Stellar magazine that she and Burgess had reconciled after their initial split in December, but admitted things weren’t ‘perfect’.

‘Every person on this planet who is married knows it isn’t perfect. It’s never going to be perfect… Sam and I will have good days and we’ll have trying days,’ she said at the time.

Phoebe added that the reason for their split, and the details of their reconciliation, ‘will always and forever just be between Sam and I’.

The Burgesses first met at an Avicii concert in Sydney in January 2014, and went on to marry at Phoebe’s parents’ estate in December 2015.
