MAFS: Photos reveal what Dan was really up to when he ‘abandoned’ Sandy

These are the photos that show what MAFS star Dan Hunjas was really doing when his wife Sandy Jawanda accused him of ‘disappearing’ for six hours.

Sandy called out Dan for his extended absences at Sunday’s commitment ceremony, but he insisted he was just running errands, exercising and hanging out with friends.

Daily Mail Australia was on location in Sydney when MAFS was being filmed last year, and can confirm the businessman, 42, was being truthful about his whereabouts.

While Sandy was suspicious of what her husband was up to while she was alone in their CBD apartment, it turns out she didn’t have much to worry about.

Just like he said on the show, photos reveal Dan spent his days shopping, going to the gym and even jogging with his co-star Harrison Boon around the city.

While he may not have been seeing another woman, Dan’s evasive behaviour did make his wife feel as though he was trying to avoid spending time with her. 

Sandy reportedly tried to talk to Dan about his behavior, but he was dismissive and unwilling to compromise.

Meanwhile, Dan’s love of fitness and the outdoors caused a rift between the couple, with sources revealing it was ‘nail in the coffin’ for their ill-fated marriage.

The true extent of their marital problems wasn’t been revealed until this week when Daily Mail Australia uncovered explosive texts Sandy sent to Dan during filming.

Sandy lashed out at her ‘husband’ after she discovered he was spending time with their co-star Harrison Boon next door.

The messages began with Sandy asking Dan: ‘Where are you?’

Sandy was ‘furious’ with Dan after finding that he wasn’t romantically interested in her and would go out of his way to avoid spending time with her, sources told Daily Mail Australia

After saying he was in the suite next door with Harrison, Sandy replied: ‘Why are you there?… You’re a dumb c**t, I’m going to bed. Goodnight.’ 

A shocked Dan responded: ‘Okay… Can’t ever remember being called a “dumb c**t” before… Good night Sandy x.’

Sandy’s subsequent calls to Dan went unanswered, before he asked a crew member to book him into another hotel for the night.

‘Dan, come here please. I need to talk to you, what are you doing?’ she begged him.

‘I’m going home. I don’t belong here,’ Dan replied.

He continued: ‘I’m not bailing on our friendship. This manipulation and TV show goes against my entire way of living. You telling me I’m a “dumb c**t” is the last straw.

‘I don’t need anything from this. I want respect and kindness.’

A friend of Dan’s told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Dan rang me and complained Sandy had become erratic, unpredictable and abrasive with her behaviour and they were fighting a lot.’

‘Sandy called Dan a c**t and that caused a huge fight where Dan packed his bags and had production book him into a separate hotel,’ they added.

‘He rang me that night in two minds about what to do. He met with Sandy the next day and she apologised and he agreed to stay [in the same apartment] as long as she wasn’t going to get any more emotional and confrontational.’

‘I’ve never seen Dan so angry. He was saying he was feeling betrayed by Sandy and he didn’t need to be there if she was going to keep trying to make him look bad,’ the friend said.

‘Dan was furious because he felt Sandy was conspiring with producers to make him look bad by saying she didn’t know where he was and exaggerating how long he was away for – but she knew the whole time!’
