A controversial MAFS star has been left devastated after her precious BMW was destroyed by brazen young thugs who took the luxury car on a high-speed chase.

Samantha Symes, who appeared on an episode of the popular reality show and is dating ex-contestant Dan Hunjas, had been at her local shops in Brisbane when she returned to find her luxury car had disappeared.

After checking CCTV footage from the carpark, security guards told the cosmetic nurse teenagers had taken off in her 2020 BMW Sport.

Ms Symes quickly put a call-out on social media and received videos of several youths driving dangerously through the city streets in her prized possession.

‘It’s the most violating feeling knowing that someone has stolen your property,’ the mother-of-one told A Current Affair.

Queensland Police sent two helicopters to follow the car as it clocked speeds of up to 200km/hour and ran 17 red lights through the streets of Brisbane.

Eventually, officers were forced to use spikes to stop BMW and also hit the car with their own vehicles – causing extensive damage.

Police have charged two teenagers over the alleged theft of the BMW.

Ms Symes had worked hard to afford the car and still owed $55,000 on it when it was ruined

Ms Symes was devastated after her car was returned with several large scrapes and destroyed tyres. The vehicle was ultimately deemed a write-off.

The cosmetic nurse had worked hard to purchase her dream car after years of studying full-time and raising her little girl.

‘It was sort of like my present to myself for having done the hard yards,’ she said.

When she went to claim insurance through Budget Direct, she was told assessors had found a digital car key inside the glovebox, which are considered an actual key.

Drivers of luxury cars have the option of using a digital car key, which resembles a credit card, to simplify the process of opening and starting the vehicle.

The keys, which can be registered only by the car owner, can also be pared with a smartphone so drivers can simply tap their mobile on the car door.

However, because there was a digital key inside the car, Ms Syme’s policy was initially voided – leaving her owing $55,000 on a write-off.

However, after A Current Affair made inquiries Budget Direct has agreed to approve her claim and says Ms Syme is satisfied with the outcome.
