MAFS UK viewers brand Whitney ‘a handful’ as she reveals VERY high standards for her future husband

Viewers of Married at First Sight UK have branded one bride a ‘handful’ as the new series kicks off.

The first episode of the new series, which aired on E4 at 9pm this evening, showed the brides and grooms meeting each other for the first time at stag and hen parties in London.

And PA Whitney Hughes from St Albans, who was paired with Duka Cav, made an impression on viewers – as well as her fellow contestants.

As she reeled off her long list of requirements in a husband and clashed with other brides, viewers took to Twitter to air their views about the 31-year-old and joking she needed to ‘chill’.

When the other brides asked Whitney what she was looking for, the 31-year-old replied she wanted a ‘strong man’.

She continued: ‘Tall, tanned, toned, big thighs. I want him to have big, massive thighs.

‘I’m not going to be impressed if he doesn’t have a full beard. No patches, because I’m not here for that.’

Speaking to the camera, she said people often make ‘negative’ assumptions about her.

Whitney explained people think she is ‘cold, cocky, arrogant, too confident, rude’.

But she added people see her kind side once they get to know her.

Describing herself as ‘single since the beginning of time’ Whitney admitted she has never been in love – adding she often runs away when things get ‘too close’.

She said: ‘I think that I deserve the most in life.’

Just minutes into her first meeting with the other brides Whitney ruffled feathers as she clashed with Jess, 30, over the issue of sleeping with the husband they are matched with on the first night.

After Jess said she would consider romping on the wedding night, Whitney hit back and argued: ‘I feel like men need to work for that s***’

Following the explosive row viewers took to Twitter to air their views about Whitney – with some people branding her ‘the villain’ of the latest series.

One person wrote: ‘Whitney ready to fight’ while another joked: ‘Whitney, babe. chill.’

One excited viewer said: ‘Can already tell Whitney is gonna be the troublemaker.’

Others branded her a ‘handful’ while one viewer said she was giving off ‘diva vibes’.

Despite making an impression on the audience with her high standards, Whitney made some admissions that tugged on viewers’ heartstrings.

During the chat with the other brides, she revealed her mother had passed away and wouldn’t be walking her down the aisle on her wedding day.

Later in the episode she revealed her mother’s death had been sudden as she passed away in a car crash at the age of 55.

‘She was driving home from work and a man crashed into her,’ Whitney explained tearfully.

‘I really miss her. I want to say she’s my best friend.’

Breaking down in tears, Whitney said: ‘I don’t think I would have done this before my mum but why not? Life is so short, just jump right in there.’

Whitney, who is also a road safety campaigner since her mother’s death, was paired with bubbly 31-year-old Duka Cav.

The recruitment HR coordinator moved to the UK from Yugoslavia when he was 10 years old as his family fled the war.

On the morning of her wedding day Whitney spoke of her grief for her mother while she had her hair pinned.

She said: ‘It doesn’t get better. It just is what it is.’

Upon hearing Whitney’s heartbreaking story, some viewers softened to the PA.

One person said: ‘I can’t imagine having my wedding without my mum being there. I feel so sad for Whitney.

Another person wrote: ‘Whitney strikes me as someone [who] upholds a very rigid front to try and protect herself.

‘She comes across as abrasive but I really don’t think that’s her true personality.’

The episode also saw social worker Chanita, 29, from Derby, marry Jordan, 29, from Darlington.
