Magda Szubanski was on the verge of tears upon discovering one of her outings at Bondi Beach had been photographed.
Back in 2011, images of the Kath & Kim star taking a dip were published in multiple women’s magazines.
‘When those pictures were taken on the beach I wanted to cry,’ the 57-year-old told Andrew Denton on his new show ‘Interview’ on Tuesday.

Magda explained that despite the fact she doesn’t consider herself particularly vain, she considered the ‘clingy wet bathers’ snaps unflattering and upsetting.
Despite struggling with the information directly afterwards, the TV veteran remembered feeling an odd sense of joy at the time.
‘It actually became really liberating because when you do go out there and be fat on Bondi Beach nothing terrible happens… except you have a terrific swim with your friends,’ she said.

‘I don’t feel like a fat person,’ Magda confessed to him prior to discussing the Bondi incident.

‘It’s like carrying a suit of armour. It does become your second skin, something that you are very used to.’
When the comedian lost 36 kilograms with Jenny Craig during her first of two ambassadorship campaigns with the weight-loss company, something felt off.
‘I didn’t recognise myself and that’s a very strange feeling… To not have this body felt odd.’
